Anton von Tröltsch Award

Statutes dated 21 May 1985 (with amendments dated 8 November 2022)

The ‘Anton-von-Tröltsch Prize’ is awarded by the German Society for Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery as a gift to promote young scientists. It is intended to promote ear, nose and throat medicine by honouring scientific achievements. The award is primarily intended to honour the personality of the award winner and highlight their role model function.

The prize is awarded annually for an outstanding scientific achievement in the field of otorhinolaryngology, the results of which have been published in a scientific journal or as a monograph in the two volumes preceding the year in which the prize is awarded (if an online publication precedes a print publication, the date of the online publication counts). The publication can either be submitted by the author or proposed for the award by another member of the Society. The work intended or proposed for the award must be submitted to the Secretary of the Society via the Bonn office by e-mail to info@hno.org by 1 October of the previous year of the congress, together with a curriculum vitae and a list of publications. It is recommended that the submission be accompanied by a letter from the head of the clinic.

If no work worthy of a prize is presented in a particular year, no prize will be awarded in that year.

The panel of judges is made up of the Executive Committee and its deputies. The judges decide on the awarding of the prize by a simple majority; in the event of a tie, the President has the casting vote. The prize can be split in exceptional cases. The prize is financed by donations and contributions from members.

The winner is announced and the prize awarded at the annual meetings of the German Society for Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery.
